UET ECAT 2027
Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT) — Combined Entrance Test — the admission test for BSc Engineering, Computing and related programmes at public and private engineering institutions of Punjab (UET Lahore & campuses, UET Taxila, BZU, IUB, KFUEIT and others).
What UET ECAT is for
ECAT is the combined entrance test that UET Lahore conducts for the Government of Punjab. It is required for undergraduate engineering, computing and related programmes at public and private engineering institutions across Punjab, including UET Lahore and its campuses, UET Taxila and several other universities.
UET holds two rounds a year. You can sit both, and under PEC instructions the better of your two scores is used for merit. Appearing in ECAT does not admit you anywhere by itself: after the result you must apply separately on the UET admission portal.

In 2026 Round 1 ran 30 Mar – 3 Apr and Round 2 ran 17 – 21 Jun. UET announces the 2027 dates on its admission portal, usually in January. Always confirm on admission.uet.edu.pk before you register or pay.

Test pattern & marking
ECAT is closest of all engineering tests to the FSc textbook. Questions are mostly direct applications of textbook formulas and definitions, so board preparation carries over well. The challenge is the clock: 100 questions in 100 minutes, with Chemistry taking a full 30% of the paper.

What is the ECAT pattern?
100 MCQs in 100 minutes: Mathematics 30, Physics 30, Chemistry or Computer Science 30 and English 10, at 4 marks each (400 total).
Is there negative marking in ECAT?
There was none in 2026. UET sets the rule each session, so read the current notice.
Can I take ECAT twice?
Yes. UET holds two rounds and the better score is used for merit.
Does passing ECAT admit me to UET?
No. You must apply separately on the UET admission portal after the result.
