PMDC MDCAT 2027

MD
Set byPakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)

Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) — the admission test for MBBS & BDS at public and private medical and dental colleges across Pakistan (admissions run by UHS, KMU, DUHS and other admitting universities).

Purpose of the test

What PMDC MDCAT is for

MDCAT is the national entrance test set by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. Every student who wants an MBBS or BDS seat at a public or private medical or dental college in Pakistan must pass it, and the score is then used by each province’s admitting university (UHS in Punjab, KMU in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DUHS and others in Sindh, and so on) to build its merit list.

PMDC also requires a pass in MDCAT, or an accepted foreign equivalent, for students who plan to study medicine abroad and later register in Pakistan. The test is held once a year on a single day, so there is no second attempt in the same cycle.

Accepted for

  • All public medical & dental colleges (provincial merit)
  • Private medical & dental colleges
  • Students going abroad for MBBS/BDS (PMDC registration rule)

Test centres: Nationwide, single day

MDCAT is a syllabus test, not an aptitude test. Questions are drawn from the PMDC MDCAT syllabus, which is built on FSc Pre-Medical, A-Level and equivalent content. Biology alone is 45% of the paper, so a candidate who is strong in Biology but average elsewhere usually outranks one who is evenly average. Most questions are one-step recall or application; a smaller share needs two-step reasoning, especially in Physics numericals and Chemistry calculations.

Skills that lift your MDCAT score

SKILL 01

Biology recall at speed

81 Biology MCQs reward instant recall of terms, diagrams and processes. Daily flash-card review beats re-reading.

SKILL 02

Read every option

PMDC likes “which is NOT” and “all except” stems. Slow down on negatives and eliminate before choosing.

SKILL 03

Chemistry arithmetic without a calculator

Moles, gas laws and equilibrium constants need clean mental arithmetic with powers of ten.

SKILL 04

Physics formula fluency

Most Physics items are one formula applied correctly. Know units and rearrangements cold.

SKILL 05

Attempt everything

There is no negative marking, so no question should be left blank. Guess smartly on the last pass.

SKILL 06

Stamina for 3 hours

Sit at least six full 180-question mocks in one go so your accuracy holds in the last hour.

Learning curve

The dashed line is the target curve for an hour a day. Your own diagnostic, sectional and mock scores on this device plot on top of it, so you can see whether you are ahead or behind.

Work through the stages in order. Each mock uses its own questions, so a score from mock 3 is a fresh measurement, not a memory test.

PMDC MDCAT FAQ

When is MDCAT 2027?

PMDC has not announced it yet. MDCAT 2026 was held on 20 September 2026 after being moved from 16 August. Expect MDCAT 2027 between August and September 2027, with registration in June or July.

No. Every question carries equal marks and wrong answers are not penalised, so attempt every question.

What is the MDCAT passing percentage?

55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS under PMDC admission regulations.

Is MDCAT enough for army medical colleges?

No. NUMS and all Armed Forces medical and dental colleges require the separate NUMS MDCAT.
